Flemingdon Health Centre offers programs and services in the following four broad categories:
  1. Primary Care (Family Medicine)
  2. Allied Health
  3. Community Development
  4. Teaching and Research
 
   
       
 
Primary Care (Family Medicine)

Primary care is provided by family physicians and nurses. The doctors and nurses at the centre provide the following services:

   

- medical care
- health education pre-natal classes
- immunizations
- sexual health clinic (no appointment needed)
- acts as a teaching site for the University of Toronto medical
  students and postgraduate students

  - one off-site seniors clinics
- obstetrical care
- telephone consultation
   
Allied Health  
Social Services
- crisis intervention
- individual & couple/family counseling
- advocacy
- social work component of prenatal classes
- information and referrals
- referrals to external agencies
  (e.g. Legal Aid, Home Care, Children's Aid,
  etc.)
 
Chiropody (Foot Care)
- general, diabetic, senior and sports injury foot care
- fitting and manufacturing of orthotics (custom shoe inserts)
- client education and outreach
- direct appointments possible, referrals not mandatory
 
         
 

Radiology
- diagnostic x-ray
- education on radiation exposure
- cancer resource centre

     
Nutrition
- nutrition counselling
- nutrition resource centre
- multi-cultural wellness cooking classes
- healthy heart program
- low fat cooking class
- diabetes education & support
- referrals to outside specialized programs
   
         
Community Development (Helping the community achieve self reliance)

- community organization
- social action
- information and outreach
- economic development projects - Women's Sewing Group, Network Café,
  Community Garden
- employment support and advocacy
- community partnerships i.e. (community safety, school snack programs,
  farmers’ market, food bank, youth advocacy etc.)

Teaching and Research

- a teaching division of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Toronto
- teaching site for U of T 1st and 2nd year family practice residents (post M.D.),
  clinical clerks, and medical students
- teaching site for nursing students from Ryerson, U of T and Centennial College
- teaching site for nurse practitioners from the Council of Ontario University
  Program of Nursing
- teaching site for other health care disciplines from various educational institutions
- internal research projects and in collaboration with other organizations

           
     
           
Some affiliated services of the centre include:
An independently operated pharmacy, a blood and specimen collection service.
