We are looking for Board Members!

WE ARE LOOKING FOR INDIVIDUALS WHO CAN BRING LEADERSHIP IN GOVERNANCE THROUGH

  • Experience with governance principles and practices; strategic planning; policy development; financial literacy; change management; quality improvement; risk management, and community engagement.
  • Experience and skills relevant to community governed boards, focusing on the social determinants of health delivered in a comprehensive primary health care environment. Specifically the board is looking to recruit candidates with strengths in health care and health system planning, immigration and settlement issues, academic and teaching and finance.
  • Knowledge of the communities and populations served by FHC.

BOARD MEMBERS ARE EXPECTED TO

  • Be knowledgeable about and dedicated to FHC’s vision, mission, values & strategic directions;
  • Commit to health equity through an anti-oppression and anti-racism lens;
  • Understand comprehensive primary health care, inclusive of the determinants of health;
  • Understand underlying problems, opportunities or political forces affecting FHC and the health system;
  • Attend/participate in 11 Board meetings per year. Meetings are usually held the 3rd Tuesday of the month, 5:15PM - 7:15PM, September to June, with no meeting in December;
  • Abide by FHC governance policies & procedures;
  • Serve for a 3-year term; with an eligibility to serve for up to 3 consecutive terms for a maximum of 9 years;
  • Attend/participate in at least 1 Board Committee and other Board related activities 
  • Participate in training(s) in person & online, conferences & orientation sessions 
  • Support the Board's succession planning by being open to train and take on an Officer Position 

TO APPLY INTERESTED CANDIDATES MUST

  • Be at least 18 years of age and a member of FHC (or be eligible to become a member)
  • Write a letter of interest answering the following questions:
  • 1) How can you demonstrate your commitment and contributions to advancing FHC’s mission, vision, values and strategic direction?
  • 2) What does health equity through comprehensive primary health care mean to you?
  • Provide a copy of your resume & contact information for 2 references
  • Indicate your willingness to undergo a police reference check
  • Indicate availability to attend an in-person interview on July 23rd between 5:30 - 9:00PM & FHC's Annual General Meeting, on Tuesday, September 17th @ 5:30 PM
