COVID19 Announcement | 23rd March 2020

The Coronavirus (COVID19) pandemic is rapidly evolving. As a result, FHC is taking all necessary precautions to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our staff, clients and community residents. To best serve you all FHC sites remain are open, although we are following a reduced schedule. Please see below: 

  • Effective Monday, March 23 and until further notice are our open hours across our 3 locations are as follows:

    • Flemingdon Site - 10 Gateway Blvd - 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday to Friday. Closed Saturday and Sunday. 

    • Fairview Site - 5 Fairview Mall Dr. - 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday to Friday. Closed Saturday and Sunday.

    • HATP Site - EYTC, 45 Overlea Blvd. - 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Mon. Wed. Thurs. Friday. Tuesdays 9:00 AM - 7:00 PM. Closed Saturday and Sunday.

  • All requests are being screened over the phone first, regardless of whether they are non-essential or urgent. You must call first before you come in person to visit us. This applies even if you haven’t travelled recently.

  • All non-essential in person appointments are cancelled, however we are coordinating for non-essential appointments to be delivered via telephone or virtually. (Click Here)

  • Urgent appointments or those who require to be seen in person, will continue in an effort to reduce ER visits. Urgent appointments will be coordinated based on a health care provider's assessment. 

  • Our after-hours support will continue.

  • All group programs and events are suspended until further notice

  • We are Actively Screening all people who are entering our sites

We continue to pay close attention to developments relevant to our communities and regularly re-evaluate the changing conditions to our work. Please keep checking this space for updates. Our teams are thinking of you and appreciate your support through this challenging time. Together, we can tackle the uncertainty that lies ahead of us.

Virtual Diabetes Management Sessions

Diabetes Management Sessions to resume virtually on OTN (Ontario Telemedicine Network), starting Jun 23rd, 2020, on every Tuesday from 3-4 pm. Please call Ester, at 416-429-4991 ext 276, to register. 

These sessions will be conducted by a Registered Nurse and a Registered Dietitian and will provide you with practical tips on living healthy with diabetes.
 
The virtual sessions will be focused on participants' needs and topics will include:
  • H​ow to interpret your blood work
  • Healthy eating and nutrition
  • Testing your blood sugar (a free meter will be sent to your home)​
  • Physical activity (lead by an exercise instructor) ​

Notice to all Clients and Visitors: CoVID19 Screening at our sites

Please be informed that across all of FHC's sites we are actively screening for CoVID19 in person and over the phone. This means that our staff will be asking a series of questions to ensure that we provide the right support. We ask for your cooepration and support in ensuring that you provide information around the following questions: 1) Are you experiencing any respiratory symptoms, such as cought, shortness of breath and fever 2) Have you travelled in the past 14 days to any non Canadian location 3) Have you had contact with a sick person that has had non-Canadian travel in the last 14 days. We ask that you please call in advance to schedule your visit with us. Thank you for your understanding and support.

FREE Community Breastfeeding Group

Do you have questions about breastfeeding?

  • Meet and share breastfeeding information with others
  • Resources and support provided by trained peers and a Public Health Nurse
  • Healthy snacks will be provided
  • Drop-in at your convenience, no pre-registration required, space is limited
