made by volunteers and strives to make their involvement in the
organization rewarding and instructive. The centre has a
commitment to providing resources to the volunteer program.
The use of volunteers is not meant to substitute paid staff positions.

Volunteers receiving Certificates of Appreciation.

Each volunteer has a job description outlining the details of his/her duties and is supervised by the appropriate Head of Service. Volunteers agree to a minimum and maximum time commitment and new volunteers are on a three-month trial period.

Each year a volunteer recognition event will be held for all volunteers who have given their time and talents over the last year. Upon completion of their volunteer assignment, volunteers will be given a certificate of recognition.

Membership

Flemingdon Health Centre has a membership and a Board of Directors. Members participate in the Annual General Meeting and other meetings which may be held throughout the year. The Board of Directors is the governing body and is responsible for the affairs of the Health Centre. The Annual Report of the directors, financial statements and the report of the Auditors are presented and adopted at each Annual General Meeting. At the meeting, the Board of Directors and Auditor for the next year are chosen.

Flemingdon Health Centre looks to the community for support and leadership. Individuals are encouraged to join the Health Centre as members and play an active part by serving on committees and even on the Board itself.

There is no membership fee. Membership is open to everyone and you do not have to be a client to become a member. We encourage clients and those who live in the Flemingdon Park, Don Mills or Thorncliffe Park neighbourhoods to become members. Members receive notices of special events and other information from time to time.

To be eligible for regular membership, you must be 18 years of age or older. Membership is a one-year term and is renewed annually. Membership must be valid for two consecutive months prior to the Annual General Meeting in order to vote.

All employees of the centre are ex-officio members. The Board may also grant honourary membership at its discretion. This status is usually reserved for recognizing individuals, organizations or businesses which may have made a special contribution to the Health Centre.
For anyone wishing to become a member of the health centre, volunteer to participate on a committee, or stand for election to the Board of Directors, please email us at fhcinfo@fhc-chc.com.
